Visiting Florence Italy

If you are visiting Florence Italy for the first time or for the tenth you will be in for something few other cities can provide. World class art. Shopping or just wandering the city enjoying the sights. A visit to Florence can be a magical stop on your Italian holiday.

Travel to Florence italy

Florence is well connected to the rest of Italy by rail. High speed trains from both TrenItalia and Italo stop at the St. Maria Novella train station. The train ride from Rome is only ninety minutes. Or from Venice two and a half hours. Prices even at full price are not very high. If your dates are set Italo often runs sales with exceptionally low prices.

Florence has its own small airport. In addition Pisa airport is nearby. Pisa is a larger airport but still not very large. You can travel from Pisa airport either by bus or by train. There are two direct trains a day from FCO airport in Rome run by TrenItalia. If you are lucky enough to arrive in Rome at the right time one of these trains can be very convenient. If your schedule doesn’t match up with one of the two direct trains it’s not very difficult to take the FL1 regional train to Tiburtina (Currently €8) and than transfer to a Florence bound train with either TrenItalia or Italo. Tiburtina is a smaller less hectic station when compared to Termini. The regional train to Tiburtina is also much cheaper than the express train to Termini. To top it all off Tiburtina is further north and therefore closer to Florence.
